Franz Fox was born on the island of Cuba under the Batista Regime. After the Castro government came into power, several uprisings resulted in immediate family members being jailed for defiance of the communist government. Soon thereafter, Fox’s family migrated to the US, just before the Cuban missile crisis.
During his travels to England, France, Italy, Spain, and Holland, Franz perfected his art through his studies of landscape and architecture. He studied painting in Paris, France and Malaga, Spain. His formal education is in architecture which gives him a unique mastery of perspective and spatiality.
Franz is a former member of Old City’s 3rd Street Gallery. Franz’s painting Black and White was purchased by Tryba Architects for permanent placement at Aimco’s property Park Towne Place, located in the museum district of Philadelphia in 2015. Franz joined the New York Art Group in 2015. In 2016 Franz was juried into Viridian Contemporary Artists Gallery in Chelsea, NY and participated in three exhibitions. Franz also joined Fine Art Collector in 2016 and his work was in an exhibition at Haley and Steele Gallery in Boston, MA. An article about Franz and three of his paintings were featured in Steadfast Magazine, Volume #3, La Libertad Artistica, which was published in December of 2016. The volume was dedicated to Cuban artists.

Franz Fox has created a new genre of paintings that he calls Neoplasticity.
Neoplasticity is in the movement of psychic automatism, which gives priority to the process, emphasizing impulse over premeditated composition. This involves the introduction of a main figural element as subject matter and fine detail added with pen and ink, creating a sense of shadow and movement, with hidden figures and symbols.
Franz works as a professional artist from his home studio in Lancaster County, PA.
