Roger Wing

Résumé

Artist Biography

Carving has been Wing’s passion for over 25 years. His sculptures of human and animal figures continue a tradition as old as sculpture itself. Wood is his primary, favorite material because it is warmer than stone and more permanent than ice, the other materials he carves most often. He specializes in the use of hand tools, especially the gouge. The surfaces of his carvings, chiseled and rough-hewn, reveal the process of their making. His large commissioned wood carvings stand in city parks and private residences throughout the Philadelphia region. Wing is a competitive Ice Carver presenting at festivals and competitions around the globe from Fairbanks to Finland.
