Winner of the Special Recognition: Narrative Award at the 2016 Blackstar Film Festival, A Moving Image is a multimedia feature film about gentrification in Brixton, incorporating fiction, documentary and performance art. We follow Nina, a young stifled artist, as she returns to her community after a long absence – she is soon painted as a symbol of gentrification. As she struggles with her own complicity, Nina works to create a piece of art that can bring her community together.
This screening kicks off with an open gallery hour at 5 p.m. Following the screening, activist, scholar and artist Nehad Khedar will moderate a discussion and audience Q&A between director Shola Amoo and Church of Broken Pieces photographer, Shawn Theodore. Grab your tickets today!
