Artist Statement

Taking inspiration from the infinite possibilities of science fiction, Japanese Battle Scene prints of the 18th and 19th centuries, monsters vs. heros, fighting games like Street Fighter. Like most of my generation I grew up playing 2D video games. I was interested in the creative abilities of early programmers considering the constraints of technology during the 80′s and early 90′s. I think that under limitations and self-imposed restrictions one can develop a unique visual language. I have spent a little over a year creating a series of intensely detailed battle scenarios.
