Artist Statement

As a self-taught collage artist, I ask myself these questions when I feel the urge to save any kind of object, piece of paper or image that I find interesting: How can I incorporate this into one of my collages? How can I recycle this? How can I get someone else to enjoy the beauty of this thing?

The main focus of my mixed media collage work is to intermingle the old with the new. I push boundaries to create & discover different processes in which to incorporate images of older, more worn items with newer ones into my work, all for the purpose of creating one fluid, mystical image of beauty.

Perhaps it is my way of holding onto the past in this ever-changing world. Or perhaps it is simply my way of exposing the old to the rest of the world, giving it much needed attention that it once never received. Almost like an antique piece of furniture that has been restored, these images can now find new life and a restored beauty.
