Artist Statement

This old/new body of work centers itself around the prefix re; fabricating a period of life and fixing it upon a plastic model spruce tree, ceiling suspension or free standing three-dimensional painting. Reassemblage: to take an old idea and reconfigure it in a fresh and personal fashion based upon life experiences accumulated from age, rolled up sleeves and armchair wisdom. Reconceptualization: a new and present alternate form of an emotion, ancestry or human existence story. Reassess: to make an honest attempt at evaluating the nature and quality of perceived personal topics, emotions and objects we hold precious. To strive to be as visceral as possible and lack any illusions, engaging a viewer from across a space and drawing them into the minute idiosyncrasies. Do our own personal characteristics and history possess any significance for others to see? After years of considering new concepts and reformulating old ideas and existing work in thought, this reemergence is a cathartic moment to physically engage again in visual art.
