Somewhat in the manner of Brancusi, my work will reflect a free association of refinement of form yet in a strange manner reminiscent of the Rorschach test I will name and define my work by what I “see” within the composition. Some of this will be obvious others will require studying. I offer up to the viewer to use your own judgment in “seeing” what you find in your own experience. If you come up with agreement with my title and your experience perhaps we shall call the work Finnie.
As an Artist who grew up in Philadelphia I am somewhat self trained. I earned a Bachelors of Fine Art from The University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Also a CFA / MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. I traveled to the western United States specifically, Yellowstone and Teaton National Parks. While living there I fell in love with the Rocky Mountain Wild Flower.
Upon my return to Philadelphia I painted wild flowers from photographs. I copied flowers till I grew tired of the process of copying what I saw with a camera. Then, I started to work at creating flowers without a visual “Prop”.
My work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. For my full exhibition history please visit www.alphonselane.com.
