Chance

The pure simplicity of the creation of the work is it’s essence, created by chance. The process is meant to challenge the viewer through this pure concept, while experiencing the beauty in it. Allowing the mind to be free, and to create and see in a way similar to how a child would see, with open eyes. The work is displayed and grouped similar to how the images were created, by chance or intuition.

Organic Lines

Trees are one of the elemental structures in our world. They provide basic survival elements for us by giving shade and bearing fruits. They can be used as metaphors for many various subject matter. They are also endlessly studied by artist. Trees, for myself, are some of the most abstract and organic forms and with individualities that could be similar to humans or animals. Their forms are incredibly intriguing to me, the shapes that they develop are in full bloom at a time of year that is opposite of what we consider the time of year a tree is in actual bloom. During it’s dormant period, the trees’ unique character is revealed in it’s entirety, naked and almost bearing it’s soul. Their forms, against the sky when one looks up can be mesmerizing.

The Negative Space

Decay and rebirth are at play with each other in this body of work. A city with a rich past deals with it’s future by eliminating what is not wanted and gets the chance to reinvent itself. These unique images show a fleeting period of transition and reveal a world that is soon to disappear again.

Archived Work

encroachment series

The imagery is an exploration into how we deal with our world we live in. On a trip out west to the desert, I was stunned to see how much of the wilderness was being overrun by the encroaching cities from the west. These were places a decade earlier that were considered wilderness and now they are starting to bare the scares of asphalt veins from the metropolis. The imagery is drawn from the likes of Emmet Gowin and his aerial images of the earth.

Drawn to the Light series

The Walk to Paradise Garden, a photograph by W. Eugene Smith is the incentive for this image and the body of work. His photograph of two children walking from the shadows of the woods into the light of the day was for Smith the restart of life after a horrible war. My work is using the same analogy of darkness into light, the light we are drawn towards from the seemingly endless war.

light drawings series

These images are a continuation of one of my philosophies in that photography is found art. This group of images are also an exploration of the most basic concept of photography, light.
