Artist Statement

I am particularly interested in issues of environmental change, social responsibility, and the connection between all living things. Our disregard for the planet’s delicate homeostasis is becoming all the more evident. We as individuals must do our part, but it is imperative that major policies be enacted in order to slow down the onset of irreversible ecological consequences. Although these politics play a pertinent role in the conception of my work, I combine a range of poetic motifs intending the pieces be interpretive rather than narrow and disparaging. Throughout my studio practice, I am confronted with a multitude of aesthetic and material possibilities. I respond and deviate from my original trajectory accordingly. The work fluctuates and a variety of allusions stream in to play a supporting role. This allows viewers the opportunity to excavate the works’ layers creating individual associations and narratives.
