“The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.”
I started painting and drawing as a child and have never stopped. I have vivid memories of creating lanyards in summer camp, and the sheer excitement of choosing colors to create each piece out of the many plastic strips available to us. They awakened a sense of color that stirs me to this day.
I have always been interested in digging deeply to explore mystery, whether it is penetrating layers of space, geography, geology, or the human psyche. This exploration leads me to experiment with color, moving forms, layering, my unconscious, and different media.
Much of my work in the last decade can be grouped under several themes: remembrance, transformation, and our planetary environmental crisis. My three-dimensional shadow boxes contain broken, found or recycled objects that are transformed into something new and altogether different.
