In Chance, the photographs were taken as the title suggests – by chance – allowing the mind to be free, and to create and see in a way similar to how a child would see – with open eyes. The pure simplicity of these works allows the mind to view and perceive what it sees as is, rather than what it is taught to see. Paul Rider’s process challenges us through this pure concept, while the viewer experiences the beauty in it. The series of work is grouped as the images were photographed – by chance – leading the artist to using his intuition to arrange the work in the space.
The public hours for the Crane Arts Building are noon – 6 pm, Wednesday – Sunday, and until 9 pm on the Second Thursday of each month.
