Victor Atkins uses intense color, primitive childlike icons, rhythmic brush strokes to create lyrical abstract imagery to create large-scale paintings. These works challenge the viewer to look past the first impression and explore deeper truths of emotion and spirituality. Atkins paintings are based on music and uplifting stories that have affected his life and his journey as an artist.
Originally based in Brooklyn, Atkins was a prevalent artist from 1970 – 1988. After a twenty-year hiatus, he has returned to his original passion of making art. Atkins currently resides and works in Philadelphia.
