The Art Education Foundations and Innovations Program Manager supports the Art Education Department, which serves over 2100 at-risk and adjudicated youth annually through out-of-school programming at sites across the city.  As a thought partner to the Director of Art Education and the Art Education Project Manager, the Program Manager will conceptualize, develop, and assess program and project content, curriculum, and goals consistent with Mural Arts’ and partners’ shared vision and expectations.  The Art Education Program Manager oversees day-to-day operation of the Program’s goals, providing practical decision-making support, continually planning and fine tuning to optimize the Program “on the ground” at classroom sites across the city.  The ideal candidate will be a big picture thinker with an innovative, community-minded artistic practice and demonstrated commitment to the linkage of art and project-based learning for young people, ages 10-22.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Facilitate site management and the fostering of partnerships

·         Teaching Artist development and evaluation

·         Lead curriculum development and classroom planning processes with Teaching Artists each session

·         Budget management for program

·         Liaison between students and larger public initiatives/projects

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

·         Bachelor’s degree required

·         3-5 experience working with youth in communities of color and a wide range of socio-economic standing in an in-school and/or out-of-school setting, including development of project based curriculum and lesson plans

·         Working knowledge and background in public, contemporary art, and/or muralism preferred

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Supervisory experience

·         Ability to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships in multiple communities and contexts

·         Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google docs and data management

·         Ability to work flexible hours, such as evenings or weekends
