Deadline March 15: Say It With Clay of Collingswood, NJ, is holding its second annual fundraising art auction event, Faces of Value 2, this April 21 at Mercedes-Benz of Cherry Hill, NJ.
Say It With Clay is a 501c3 non-profit organization. SIWC is an art studio that provides clay-based art therapy and art education services to special needs clients of all ages and ability challenges. The Faces Of Value project raises funds to support SIWC’s scholarship programs to offer these services to recipients who may otherwise not be able to benefit.
SIWC seeks artists to create masks in clay to donate to the auction. What do they have to be? Whatever your interpretation of a mask may be — any style, any size, simple to elaborate. The only requirement is it be made of clay. Non-clay embellishments and decorations are OK, but primarily clay. Take a look at the online catalog from last year’s event to get a feel for the range of styles and forms that have auctioned in the past: http://bit.ly/SIWC-FOV2015
You can donate a finished mask. You can make a mask at the Say It With Clay studio where SIWC provides all the materials (clay, glazes, etc.) and firing services for in-studio-made work. Attached, please find a list of mask making workshops and sign up. If you have special scheduling needs, contact Abbie at the studio and discuss other options. Finished masks must be in the SIWC studios by March 31 when we start assembling the auction catalog.
Whether you can make a mask for us or not, please feel free to pass the word on to anyone you know who would have interest in contributing. Besides artists, we seek works from community leaders, politicians, entertainment and sports celebrities, or anyone whose name can widen the attention to our event and to Say It With Clay’s mission on the whole.
