Artist's Statement

Public spaces are visceral, storied environments—my artwork explores the psychological connection between landscapes and people. The lived experiences, imagined moments, and collective memory of a place establish the groundwork for my paintings. Each painting is a singular place experience, inspired by referencing the people, emotions, sights, and textures of a cityscape. Using light, color, and mark-making, the compositions illustrate the perceived reality of a physical place by examining the moments within. Working through experiences and collective memories my art practice explores the commonplace and extraordinary narratives in our environment.
