Artist's Biography
Terri Fridkin is best known for her dynamic, abstract and mixed media works that embody intense color and graphic forms. She is a National Honor Society graduate of Drexel University School of Design Arts, and lives and works in the Philadelphia area. After teaching art for several years in Philadelphia, Fridkin left to pursue printmaking at various studios and schools in New York and Pennsylvania. She has been monitoring the etching studio at Fleisher Art Memorial since 2014.
Fridkin has presented solo shows at Muse Gallery, Main Line Art Center and Coldwell Banker in Old City. Selected juried and invitational exhibitions include Woodmere Art Museum, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia City Hall, Washington Printmakers Gallery in D.C., Bob Owens Gallery at the University of North Georgia, Galleries at William Patterson University in New Jersey, Goggleworks, Haverford College, Widener University and the State Capital Building. Selected awards include the Michael Lasuchin Memorial Award for Printmaking, Gail Taflin Silvert Award for Abstract Work, the Stella Drabkin Award for Printmaking, Honorable Mention for Works on Paper at The State Museum of Pennsylvania and the Purchase Award at Einstein Medical Center. Artist's Statement
Color creates space… space unites color. A bold palette, balanced structure and uncluttered compositions are core values in my abstract work. My art consists of vibrant mixed media prints and carved, painted wall objects. They are bold and subtle, simple and complex, static and mobile. These non objective bodies of work originate from printmaking techniques and focus on vivid colors with a strong relationship to geometry. They reflect my minimal and graphic sensibility which embraces my gravitation towards order. These aesthetics provide a sense of harmony to counteract the uncertainty and disorder in our world today.
