Artist's Biography
After a lifetime of wishing I could paint, I took a class in 1987 and quickly found that I couldn’t stop. I re-arranged my work life and took as many classes and workshops as I could manage. I began showing my work locally in 1990 and was admitted to the 3rd Street Gallery in Philadelphia in 1996. My work now exists in private and corporate collections across the United States and in Switzerland and the United Kingdom. I maintain a studio outside Philadelphia in Narberth, PA and welcome visits by appointment.
Artist's Statement
I like to paint. I like to let marks and brush strokes evolve. Sometimes right away — and sometimes after much revision, despair, and scratching out— a painting will emerge that shows me something new about myself, my experience, or the world.
These paintings may collect themselves in loosely related series, but I do not intend them to present a signature image or theme. Rather, I am pleased if any painting of mine offers a viewer a glimpse into a moment of perception and consciousness that may seem both familiar and provocatively new.
