Artist's Statement
My Art expresses my interpretation of the world - the beautiful, bizarre, touching world that surrounds us. It is the human condition that grabs my attention and drives me to paint. Through the force of humanity, I am inspired to create and communicate my thoughts and feelings.
Ruth studied at Studio Incamminati for 5 years as a full time student where the focus was on the methods of traditional realism. After graduating, Ruth began taking weekly classes with Carlo Russo and workshops with Max Ginsburg. Her paintings are largely devoted to still lives and street scenes. By painting realism, Ruth can communicate her beliefs and ideas that are important to her.
In 2013, Ruth began collaborating with Christopher Brown who has similar interests in social realism. They began by connecting with photographs and oil paintings of the homeless in Philadelphia. Their work was shown at the Broad Street Ministry where the candidates for Mayor discussed what could be done for the homeless.
