Opening Reception, Saturday, May 6, 6-10 pm

James Oliver Gallery
723 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA

ANAHATA, opening May 6th, 2017, includes photographic works through a multi-disciplinary installation experience by John Singletary, featuring an installation of wearable art pieces and garments by Bela Shehu of NINOBrand, titled I FORGIVE YOU. Join us for the opening reception, that night from 6-10 PM for a stimulating excursion and virtual experience, that heads forward toward the future.

Anahata, meaning unhurt and unbeaten in Sanskrit; translates currently to a life of experience, sans heady indulgence with a nod toward recovery along the journey.

This show is fabricated and presented with alternative materials. Singletary’s photographs depicting both theatrical and stark images, waned in with original musical compositions are displayed on multiple state-of-the-art organic LED panels. Shehu’s collection, I Forgive You, is constructed primarily using Tyvek fabrics, fashioned into wearable artworks, modeled by fantastical stilt walkers and performers. Together this multi-facetted exhibition will fulfill many sensory needs.

ANAHATA will run from May 6th-June 9th, 2017. Artist talk and events TBA.
