Ann Hamilton is one of the most renowned artists of our time and Converge 45 is thrilled to bring her breathtaking, large-scale installation, habitus, to Portland, OR. Situated along the waterfront of the Willamette River at Centennial Mills Pavilion, habitus was originally commissioned by The Fabric Workshop and Museum in 2016 for the historic waterfront at Pier 9 in Philadelphia, PA. Ann Hamilton re-sites elements of the installation in relation to Portland’s civic history and places a model of the city at the center of the work. Created at a moment of urban renewal, the installation includes long shelves of literary excerpts related to dwelling, shelter and sanctuary.
