|Space 1026 has continued to thrive for 19 years with the support of its members past and present, the Philadelphia community, and the generous donations from their annual art auction, providing affordable studio spaces, housing a communal silk screen facility, and offering members a chance to be part of the Philadelphia art community, while serving as a supportive venue for varied gallery programming. Donations contribute in a variety of ways to help sustain the Space 1026 gallery and studio facilities including the cost of repairs, equipment and materials, participation in group shows and other costs necessary in hosting events throughout the year.
The art auction also provides an accessible way for new audiences to discover and own great art donated by members and supporters. Not only does the auction feature work from prominent Space 1026 members such as Adam Wallacavage, Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Alex Lukas, and James Ulmer, but it also features work from celebrated national artists including Charles Burns, Tim Kerr, Ed Templeton, and Erin Riley–all lots beginning with an opening bid of only $10! For collectors looking for amazing bargains or for those people starting an art collection, Space 1026 art auction is a great opportunity to go home with an amazing piece of original art.
As much as this is a fundraising event this is also a party for you. There will be food, beverages, awesome auctioneers, music, friends, rowdiness, jumping up for the art your love, cheering on the people who bid, crying over the piece you lost, and maybe a journey home victoriously with art in hand that same night. All are invited to participate and enjoy.
