Join the Mural Arts Institute for a week-long symposium exploring the intersection of environmental justice, participatory public art, and the responsive nature of artists during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Arts and Environmental Justice Symposium looks at the transformative work happening at the intersection of arts, community-based cultural practice, and environmental justice. The pandemic has further stressed the same communities already grappling with acute climate and environmental crises, both economically and in terms of inequitable health care access and outcomes, and the conversations and workshops that will take place during the Symposium will explore how creative people and practices are helping us meet the challenges of this moment.
Opening remarks will be made by Philadelphia City Councilmember, Kendra Brooks, and Mural Arts Founder and Executive Director, Jane Golden, before changemakers from across the United States take the virtual stage. Mark your calendars and sign up to make sure to get updates and the full agenda of this free virtual symposium during the week of May 17-21, 2021, during 12:00-5:00 PM EDT, follow the link to sign up through eventbrite here!
