Photography and mixed media sculpture by DVAA member Uta Fellechner.
Celebrating Light and Shadow and Otherness is an exhibition of three series of experimental photographic portraits, as well as a series of sculptures. In much of Fellechner’s work, there is an undercurrent of otherness with metaphors investigating time, mutability, light, darkness, and existentialism. An evolving series of existential self-portraits — which are experimental self-investigations, not selfies — is both balanced and fed by a group of photographs which celebrate political resistance. The third photographic series honors the brave survival — and difficult, unsheltered life — of the artist’s immigrant mother, who lived with late stage dementia.
This exhibition is supported in part by the Joseph Robert Foundation.
