Enjoy an evening of art, music, food, and stimulating conversation at the CITY ARTS SALON at Sharktown, 155 Cecil B. Moore Avenue, Studio 3D.
The City Arts Salon proudly presents “Of Color,” featuring the art of
James Dupree, Ade Oyelami, Donald Stephens, and Chabane Djouder.
JAMES DUPREE is an established Philadelphia artist who has exhibited extensively in this country and abroad. Known for his signature use of saturated color, Dupree mixes figurative and abstract imagery to explore human experiences that are at once personal, social, and universal. Dupree will share his distinctive visions Past, Present…and Future.
ADE OYELAMI is a Nigerian artist who has revolutionized the batik technique, elevating it to a fine art. Oyelami’s work celebrates Yoruba culture using themes from folklore, mythology, and philosophy. With exhibitions in Europe and the U.S., Oyelami sees his art as a means to build understanding between those of African and non-African descent.
DONALD STEPHENS is a self-described Figurative Expressive artist who has exhibited his mixed-media drawings and paintings in New York and throughout the Delaware Valley. He has formulated his own visual syntax that combines everyday images with those from his imagination to give form and color to human emotions and experiences.
CHABANE DJOUDER is an Algerian-born artist whose paintings have been exhibited extensively throughout Algeria and the U.S. With images that are both abstract and impressionistic, Djouder’s art discovers humanity by representing our silent interactions, unseen emotional and spiritual energies, and body language.
Photographer Kenny White hosts the City Arts Salon in his spacious Fishtown/West Kensington studio, part of the Sharktown studios complex.
