10am-5pm Saturday, October 13, 2018
10am-1pm, Sunday, October 14, 2018
Kings Oaks, 756 Worthington Mill Road, Newtown, PA 18940
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
In this workshop, we will explore how to create a feeling of light and composition through paper. Even if you have never collaged, after “seeing” with collage, you come back to regular studio practice in a new and fresh way. Collage stimulates us to realize shape and color as one, to reference Matisse who said he was drawing as he cut through his colored paper.
We will begin with “making” our palettes by painting paper with colors you love. Naturally, these colors will reflect your “mood” at that moment. This first stage is the big dive into the magnificent pool of painting. It gets us into the atmosphere of fantasy and unity, which is what painting is about. Once we have painted our paper, the game begins. We will work observationally, using pins to anchor our collages as we go, allowing us to work quickly and freely. We will explore abstraction through shape and light, make decisions we couldn’t have planned, and see connections and simplicities we could never have discovered in any other media.

ABOUT ROTEM AMIZURRotem Amizur is a graduate of the Jerusalem Studio School Master Class, instructed by Israel Hershberg. In 2009 and 2010, she participated in the JSS Master Class Italy program with Ken Kewley and Stuart Shils. Amizur is mainly engaged and works in mediums of collage, painting and drawing, from hand-sized creations to wall paintings. Her work combines figurative and geometric abstraction with an expressive spirit. On the one hand, there is an intimate affinity with the language of art, and on the other hand, a preoccupation with the mood of the objects and subjects that are in front of her. The works at their core are based on collage elements and a play between discovery and concealment of shapes. Her studio is based in Haifa, Israel and her works can be found in private collections. https://rotemamizur.com/
