Stuart observes man-made and natural phenomena in the world around him with close attention to the properties of paint. The colors, textures and sheen move between addition and subtraction, making and unmaking and finally to the balance between wild spontaneity and emotional restraint. His drawings and paintings are created on wooden panels and are often embellished with chalk, wax pastels, along with a mix of oil, acrylic and lacquer paints. Somehow from this chaos of materials emerges a personal statement of order in the universal language of art.
