Communications in Drawing and Paint – Wednesdays 1:30-4:30 pm 1/10 – 2/14 Nancy E. F. Halbert, painter, artist member of 3rd Street Gallery, and Philadelphia Sketch Club

Between reality and abstraction, lies expressionism and the motivation to paint in a distinct style. In this course, content will include the figure, landscape photo references that the teacher provides, and still life. With the observance of the art principles, line, shape, color, value, and texture, we will use the subject as a jumping ground to draw and paint with an expressive freedom that pushes the conversation of real and imagined. This class will open your eyes to new ways to mixing materials, such as charcoal, watercolor, ink, oil and acrylic paint with one another. We will start classes with quick sketches to help with drawing skills and to organize one’s painting into a unified composition.
