In partnership with Lightbox Film Center at International House Philadelphia, DVAA presents a group exhibition featuring work from DVAA Members and the Public.
Composition in Concert will accompany Lightbox’s programming as an exhibition showcasing visual artwork informed by or in conversation with music.
Throughout the month of July, Lightbox Film Center at International House Philadelphia will present Shimmering Synths: The Film Music of Tangerine Dream. For over five decades the German electronic music group has created dreamy, minimalist soundscapes and iconic film scores. To a greater extent, the film score embodies the harmonious relationship between music and visual art forms. The interaction between the two has become an integral part of art theory and history, especially since the 20th century. Even when visual art and music do not overtly influence one another, they often share abstract qualities or similar external influences, such as cultural innovation, political movements, or technological developments.
