Join the staff of Center City Veterinary Hospital for a First Friday celebration! On display will be work by Colleen Rudolf.
“Rudolf began making portraits of shelter dogs after completing her graduate studies as a way to maintain her drawing practice. As a volunteer at the PSPCA (Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) photographing the shelter dogs and uploading their images and bios ontopetfinder.com, she felt overwhelmed by the endless stream of new canine faces and personalities that arrived at the shelter daily. Hoping that the portraits she made would honor these dogs and call attention to their predicament, she exhibited a series in 2008 and has been continuing to create portraits of all kinds of animals and humans since. After graduation, she volunteered with the Penn Vet Working Dog Center, where she witnessed the potential of dogs to perform search and rescue tasks. She has donated her photography services to programs like Hand to Paw and New Leash on Life, both organizations that demonstrate the healing power dogs can have for humans. Rudolf believes that being able to share our lives with animals is a great gift and this is what motivates her work.”
