Featuring: Gerri Spilka
Through shape and color, this series of nearly 30 large pieces explores the often ambiguous interactions between people and place. In some pieces, land and people — or figure and ground — are clearly one or the other. In other pieces, figure and ground ambiguously shift back and forth with figures standing alone or together in groups.
Hand dyed and commercial cottons that are machine-pieced and quilted are the series’ consistent construction technique.
