Join us for the 2nd Annual Hand Crafted Holidays – a festive day of FREE tastings, hands-on activities, talks, and demonstrations intended to spark creative ideas for holiday decorating and entertaining. All activities are open to the public.
Below is the day’s event schedule.
11:00am: Coffee and pastries
Start the day off with coffee and pastries from High Point Café, who will have a special blend made just for The Clay Studio that will also be available for purchase during the day (or FREE with the purchase of any two mugs – perfect gift for the holidays!)
12:00pm: Clay ornament making
Join Sarah Archer, author of Midcentury Christmas, and artist Charity Thackston for a fun clay ornament-making activity using retro cookie cutters. Sarah will speak about her new book and have signed copies available for purchase. The ornaments will be fired in our kilns later and available to pick up a week after the event.
2:00pm: Talk with Eric Rymshaw
Concurrent with our exhibition, A Crafted Modern Holiday, leading Philadelphia-based architect and designer Eric Rymshaw, principal at Fury Design, will speak about the increasing demand for handmade ceramic art pieces and how he uses special objects that have a unique story to create an original look for each client.
4:00pm: Holiday cocktail demonstration with “Madame Fromage”
Tenaya Darlington, Philadelphia-based author, blogger, and cheese courtesan, will create an eye-catching holiday bar display featuring her “Rock’n Rye,” a vintage potion and home remedy made with whiskey, spices, and citrus. Join us for Rock’n Rye hot toddies and a special demonstration by Tenaya on how to make the recipe, which doubles as a great holiday gift! Signed copies of her new book, The New Cocktail Hour, will also be available for purchase.
