Featuring: Howard Brunner
InLiquid’s newest member, Howard Brunner, will be showing work from his URBAN EYES series in Everyday Matters.
“The work featured on this website is from a series called URBAN EYES. The series consists of photographs made during walks through the streets of Philadelphia. Photography is both my way of observing the world, and the best medium to describe my experience in it. My working method for these photographic walks is to use a handheld camera whenever possible. I’ve found that the simpler the tools, the more intuitively, rapidly, and freely I can work.
Over the years, these urban walks have evolved into a kind of spiritual practice— a walking meditation of sorts. My best photographs occur when I am able to walk, look, and feel, unbound by conscious thought. The situations I encounter that evoke an emotional or spiritual connection are those most worthy of photographing. It’s a loving feeling when these connections occur; I make the photographs almost out of gratitude. When I revisit the images on my computer, a rare few will stir up that same sense of deeper meaning, and these become the ones worth printing and sharing. ” Howard Brunner
