IX 9: Celebration of Imaginative Realism
Launched in 2008, IX is the first groundbreaking art show, symposium, and celebration dedicated solely to imaginative realism-bringing artists, students, collectors, art fans, and the general public together for an intimate annual gathering intended to inspire and create further awareness and zeal for imaginative realism and all that’s encompassed in the realm of the fantastic.
IX Main Show / Cohen, Schimdt, Room 238, Room 240
See the work of over 90 juried international artists and meet the artists themselves! The IX Main Show covers 18,000 square feet of exhibition space at GoggleWorks, with artists presenting their work in the Cohen and Schmidt Galleries, as well as Rooms 238 and 240. The IX Main Show is open to IX pass holders from October 20-October 23 from 10am-5pm. Please note: Cohen & Schmidt Galleries will be closed to the public for the duration of IX.
IX Costume Salon & Sketch Lab / Room 411
Open Thursday through Sunday, 10am-5pm, the Costume Salon and Sketch Lab will include photograph and sketch costume models, and explore costuming from different eras. A wide variety of models will be available all four days. Complimentary programming includes talks and discussions on working with models, makeup for modeling, and costuming on the fly.
Programs / Room 322, Room 324, Film Theatre
A variety of complimentary programming will be offered at GoggleWorks each day of IX; including workshops and demonstrations on drawing, painting, SketchUp, and sculpture. Several talks and panel discussions cover topics on working as a professional artist; including intellectual property, contracts, commission, and more. Two documentary film screenings on Saturday-Art of the Fantastic and Plastic Galaxy-include follow-up panel discussions as well.
