The Gershman Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival is proud to present
the nation’s first JEWISH NEW MEDIA FESTIVAL!
Taking place at the National Museum of American Jewish History on Saturday and Sunday, December 7th and 8th, the Jewish New Media Festival is the first festival of its kind in America. Dedicated to sharing, celebrating, and exploring Jewish storytelling in our digital-global age, the inaugural JEWISH NEW MEDIA FESTIVAL will bring together established and emerging Jewish new media artists, media producers, and thinkers for two days of exploration, connection, and innovation at the National Museum of American Jewish History.
What is New Media?
New media refers to the digital technologies that take advantage of computers and the Internet to create, share, and communicate ideas. Social media, YouTube, podcasts, web series, blogs and vlogs, online streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, interactive gaming, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality are some examples of what we refer to as new media. New Media shapes the nature of how we tell and experience Jewish stories today. And, due to its accessibility and intimacy, some new media has become a part of our everyday lives! The Jewish New Media Festival offers festival-goers an opportunity to explore Jewish storytelling in our digital-global age — meaning the artists, storytellers, and thinkers you’ll be hearing from and interacting with at the festival use digital technology and media to create, share, and distribute their stories and ideas to people around the world.
