Now in its 24th year, the annual Jumpstart Fashion Show always gets the fall season jumping with excitement at Moore College of Art & Design. This year, in just three weeks, Fashion Design students will construct pieces by hand and machine inspired by fashions exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s MANUS X MACHINA: Fashion in an Age of Technology.
“The most inspiring and important thing I learned from the MANUS X MACHINA exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was the new perspective of fashion it showed me. Fashion is not just about the clothing that we wear, it is about delivering a concept, revealing innovation and showing the world the brilliant and creative mind that makes a great designer. After seeing this exhibit, I am pushing my Jumpstart design further. I want people to ask themselves the same question I asked myself when I saw MANUS X MACHINA; ‘How did she do that?’” – Kimberly McLinden ’17, Fashion Design major
