On View: November 4, 2016 – January 29, 2017
The Delaware Contemporary is pleased to announce that artist Jury Smith‘s exhibition Hush will be on display through January 29, 2017. Smith’s multifaceted ceramic sculptures draw you in to contemplate the subtle mystery of geometric forms, inspiring tranquility while at the same time unsettling with unexpected variations. Smith states, “The forms and surfaces are rooted in personal references – old white churches in long hollows, bits of chopped wood, echoes of the past and moments of clarity or exquisite darkness. Their strength comes from imprinting a visual mark, rather than imparting a direct narrative.”
Jury Smith studied ceramics at Tyler School of Art (Philadelphia) and Sanboa Ceramic Art Institute (China). Her ceramic work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe, Asia, and across the U.S., at such places as the the Oliver Sears Gallery (Dublin), Jingdezhen University (China), the Clay Studio (PA), Artists Space (NYC), and Blutenweiss Gallery (Germany).
