December 2, 2016 – January 28, 2017 Preview Party: December 2 | 6 – 10 p.m. Wayne Art Center is very proud to present Making Marks, curated by Mi-Kyoung Lee, Program Director of Craft + Material Studies at The University of the Arts. Making Marks will run concurrently with Craft Forms 2016 and will feature over 20 works by 15 invitational fibers and textile artists who have been working on various methods and processes in the medium to express their inner voice. Each artist addresses his or her own way of creating marks of color, line, texture, image, pattern, shadow, space and even sounds through the timeless investigation in the process. Their works examine and manifest the beauty of repetition and its metaphor of strength. Craft Forms’ status as a fine craft exhibition grows each year in large part due to the expertise of the acclaimed jurors. This year we are honored to welcome Stefano Catalani, Executive Director of the Gage Art Academy and former Director of Art, Craft & Design, Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue, WA. Mr. Catalani selected 89 artists with a collection of 101 cutting edge and noteworthy craft pieces from approximate 400 artwork submissions by hundreds of artists from around the world. Entry to exhibitions is free to the public beginning December 3. Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 610-688-3553, www.wayneart.org |
