Featuring: Michelle Marcuse
The Holding Absence series is based upon my formative years growing up during the Apartheid era in South Africa. References have been drawn from my childhood myths and stories where I address the anxieties and recollections from this period. Time, space and memory have played an essential part in creating an array of unexpected possibilities. Made primarily of discarded cardboard, I choose these materials to reflect the impermanence of our age and to recall states of fragility and uncertainty.
