Event Navigation

Since its founding in the late 19th century, the Plastic Club has offered workshops where artists drew and painted live models. For instance, currently, the Club offers ten workshops per week, and all but two of these workshops use models as subjects.

Once a year, the Plastic Club offers a show in which the Club’s workshop models step down from the platform and go up on the wall, displaying their own creative work — the Club’s annual “Models Are Artists” exhibition.

Besides the pictures made by the models, the annual “Models Are Artists” exhibition also features a popular Talent Show which gives the models an opportunity to display their other talents — principally, music, drama, poetry, and dance.

The exhibition goes up July 2. The eagerly-awaited opening reception and talent show is a week later, on Sunday, July 9, between 2 PM and 5 PM. The show runs until July 27.

Admission is free. The works are on display in the Plastic Club during the reception and by appointment.

The Plastic Club, located on historic Camac Street, was founded in 1897 to promote the visual arts. “Plastic” means “changeable”.
