The Galleries at Moore’s Fall Exhibitions Inspire & Entertain

Philadelphia, PA – A loom that makes music. Drag and burlesque. Handcrafted art. Experience this and more during four fall exhibitions at The Galleries at Moore College of Art & Design, located at 20th Street and The Parkway. Join us for the Opening Reception, Friday, September 15, 2017, 5:30 – 8 pm. Featured artists include Andrea Baldeck, Kay Healy, Nick Lenker, Sophia Narrett, Erin M. Riley and Ursula Von Rydingsvard. All shows are presented in conjunction with CraftNOW, a citywide biennial celebrating Philadelphia’s rich legacy in craft and promoting the city’s continuing role as an incubator for arts based in fiber, wood, clay, metal, glass and more. For more information, visit or call 215.965.4027.

All events are FREE and open to the public and will take place in the Levy Gallery for the Arts in Philadelphia at Moore.

September 16 – December 9, 2017

Bodyworks is a symposium of performances, workshops, and collaborative projects that will examine the body as both material and tool in contemporary performance. Including practices of dance, theatre, costume, and sound Bodyworks brings together a diverse group of Philadelphia artists who use their bodies to engage viewers with their craft and create new spaces for social action, dialogue, and representation. September 16 – December 9, 2017

This exhibition presents the work of three women — Kay Healy, Sophia Narrett and Erin Riley — whose contemporary studio practices are heavily influenced by traditions steeped in functional craft and the handmade.

September 16, 2017 – January 6, 2018

Philadelphia artist Nick Lenker addresses the complexities of dealing with identity and intimacy within virtual/digital spaces. Through exploring voyeurism and performance of self, Lenker transforms the gallery space into a narrative environment that tells the story of a character whose world is rendered through three-dimensional, digital modeling software and whose existence is the sum of the objects he collects through his journeys.

September 9 – November 11, 2017

We are pleased to honor both Visionary Woman Awardees Andrea Baldeck and Ursula Von Rydingsvard with presence in The Galleries’ fall exhibition season. Presented in conjunction with CraftNow, the exhibition features a selection of photographs by Baldeck and a series of recent works on paper by Von Rydingsvard.

Free opening reception is Friday September 15 from 5:30-8.
