Leah will teach you techniques and tips for working with a model. Students will gain experience photographing in the studio and out in nature using the texture and colors of the natural surroundings for inspiration. Flowers and leaves are art materials, too! Students will learn to observe their surroundings for good photo compositions. They will then learn techniques for editing our photographs and creating black and white images that are specifically suited for encaustic paintings. They will discuss the best types of ink jet papers for printing photographs on your home printer. They will experiment with collage and encaustic painting on a variety of materials including wood panel substrates to create beautiful, textural, works of art.
This workshop will teach you the basics on how to blend modern digital photography practices with the ancient art of encaustic painting. Leah has spent her career as an artist and professional photographer perfecting the balance of these two art forms for many years and has a wealth of experience and knowledge to pass on to the beginner or experienced artist.
