Every year, Plastic Club members have a chance to select one item from their creative output, their best and favorite work, to enter into a juried show in the Annual Members Medal Show.
There are a variety of prizes and awards in the show, including the club’s Gold and Silver medals. Winners of these two top prizes get to keep cast metal medallions and have their names hand-lettered in calligraphic style on a wall hanging going back to 1912.
Other prizes include prizes for Realism, for Still Life, for Photography, and for Botanical Illustration. Many of these prizes have been endowed by past and present friends of the Plastic Club. The juror for this year’s show is independent curator Eileen Tognini.
Entry is limited to Plastic Club members.
The Club’s 106th Annual Members Medal Show will open with a reception on Sunday, May 6, between 2 and 5 PM. Prizes will be announced at 3:30 PM. Works will be available for viewing during the opening and by appointment. The show closes May 24.
The Plastic Club, founded in 1897, is a historic art club located on scenic Camac Street in Center City.
