Co-presented by PPAC and Mural Arts, Yearbook will represent Pennsylvania in the 50 State Initiative, a national action coordinated by For Freedoms. In the months leading up to the midterm elections, arts institutions in all 50 states will raise billboards displaying public art. The billboards—accompanied by exhibitions, public programs, and town hall meetings—will encourage critical, compassionate engagement with politics and civic values.
In fall 2018, PPAC will bring internationally recognized photographers to teach portraiture to and take portraits of young people in Mural Arts’ summer youth programs. These collaborative images will become Yearbook: a collective portrait of Philadelphia’s youth displayed on 50 billboards throughout the city and in an exhibition in PPAC’s gallery. The PPAC exhibition will be on view from October 11 through December 15.
