School 33 Art Center presents Relative Territory, a collaborative exhibit between Carrie Fucile and Lidia Malynowskj. The exhibition is on display in the Members Gallery from Friday, September 9 through Saturday, October 29, 2016. A free opening reception with refreshments takes place Friday, September 9 from 6 to 9pm. This event also features Material Actions: a live, collaborative sculptural sound and video performance by Carrie Fucile and Mark Brown at 8pm. School 33 Art Center is managed by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and is located at 1427 Light Street.  Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

In Relative Territory, American intermedia artist Carrie Fucile and Brazilian sculptor Lidia Malynowskyj explore issues of territorial definition through natural materials. Fucile utilizes sound and motion to consider the subject of war and shelter. Malynowskyj questions the concept of “landscape” through clay, plaster, and light. This presentation of their work is a counterpart to the Summer 2016 exhibition, “Territórios Relativos,” held at Casa Contemporânea in São Paulo, Brazil. As such, it forms a bridge between two countries and reveals how all of us are a product of the world’s ever-shifting borders.

School 33 Art Center is dedicated to providing opportunities for visual and performing artists through solo and group exhibitions, art classes, hands-on workshops, a Studio Artist Program and special events. A program of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, School 33 Art Center is supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council and through private contributions.  School 33 Art Center is the proud recipient of a grant from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, which supports fearless and innovative collaborations in the spirit of Robert Rauschenberg.
