Join us Second Thursday as Icebox Project Space and Headlong open their collaborative workshop series, The Kinematic Workshop!
We will be screening Headlong Dance Theater’s piece, More (2009) all evening. Take your shoes off, sit on our dance floor, and enjoy this incredible performance!
In More, Headlong imagines a dance of our bodies after our bodies have gone away. A house is built, dismantled, and built up again. A farm appears with a paddock for retired bodies put out to pasture. Rooms morph into sculptures strewn with bodies. And as the landscape continues to shift, a furious dance of what the body isn’t tears across a domestic world that is both growing and coming apart.
About The Kinematic Workshop
The Kinematic Workshop is a series of six free and public movement-based workshops hosted on our new Marley performance floor. Selected in partnership with Headlong Dance Theatre, these workshops seek to use the Icebox’s new performance area as a platform for instruction, collaboration, and self discovery in movement and the physical self.
Instructors include: Shizu Homma, Dianne Loftis and Meredith Degyansky, Annie Wilson, Sarah Muehlbauer, Morgan Fitzpatrick Andrews, and Yixuan Pan.
In addition to these selected events, the Icebox is inviting community members to personally use the floor for dancing, playing, researching, relaxing, meditating, and practicing during regular gallery hours. Community use is free of charge and available through online reservations or on a first-come-first-serve basis. Sign ups will become available Thursday August 9th.
