Span – a solo exhibition hosted @ DVAA in Gallery 2
Paintings by DVAA artist member Rusty Eveland
– Public Opening Reception: Friday, June 7th, 6-8pm
DVAA is proud to host “Span,” a solo exhibition of paintings by DVAA member Rusty Eveland in Gallery 2, which will run concurrently with “Encounters with Whitman” and “Visible Cities,” two exhibitions in Gallery 1 during the month of June: an open call juried exhibition and an exhibition curated by DVAA member Andrew Hart, respectively.
Rusty Eveland’s interesting architectonic paintings examine bridges as a metaphor for human connection. In Eveland’s own words: “I don’t believe in echoing the negativity in the world with my work. Creativity provides escape from a sometimes crippling reality. With this series, I turned to bridges as a symbol of strength, perseverance, connectivity, and escape.”
