Joshua Liner Gallery is excited to announce 2019’s edition of Summer Mixer. Summer Mixer is the gallery’s annual response to the ever-present “summer group show” found in New York City galleries. This annual showcase is an exhibition that provides a platform for new art and artists along with a chance to preview what is ahead for the following year. For this year, long time gallery artist Wayne White will be showing new work that takes on a new direction for him. He continues with his word paintings, but in replacement of the found vintage print as his canvas, White is painting his own mural backdrops. Painter Kathryn Macnaughton will debut a series of small paintings to contrast against the larger works from earlier in the year, while Mark Wagner and Arno Beck create landscapes and narratives from non-traditional materials: American currency and typewriter letters, respectively. It will also be the first time the gallery has shown work by Stephen Ormandy and Terri Lowenthal. Ormandy’s vibrant works exude a feeling of infinity and motion with compositions formed from solid shapes of color. Lastly, Lowenthal also places color in forefront of her work, as these photographs combine colorful images of multiple landscape views together, simultaneously.
The exhibition will open Thursday July 25 with a reception from 6-8pm, and will remain on view through Friday, August 23, 2019.
