Temple Contemporary & 600 HIGHWAYMEN present “1000 Ways to Listen”

November 2, 2019

Event Navigation

Temple Contemporary at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture has commissioned theater artists, 600 HIGHWAYMEN, to create a multiyear performance project called 1000 Ways to Listen.

A Day of Listening will take place this year on Saturday, November 2, 2019. One thousand Philadelphians from across the city will engage one another in a seated hour-long conversation as a growing and empathetic movement to listen to someone they would have otherwise never met.

They are seeking a broad range of individuals from across the city who want to listen to – and share with – one another.

Using a specially designed series of instructions and prompts, each pair of residents will share experiences, memories, hopes, and fears that, when combined, activate deep sharing and deep listening.

If you’re interested in participating, please fill out this survey.
