How do events of the past effect contemporary experience in a changing environment?
Our fall show The Expanded Caribbean: Contemporary Photography at the Crossroads considers this question while exploring the meaning of place in the Caribbean, an area with a rich history as a target of exploration and conquest. Curated by Susanna W. Gold, Ph.D, the exhibition features work by sixteen emerging and established artists with projects based in several different nations and communities neighboring the Caribbean Sea. The Expanded Caribbean brings together images that challenge and engage cultural and historical aspects of the past, present, and future of the Caribbean region.
Featuring the works of: Byron Wolfe, William Earle Williams, Ron Tarver, Kara Springer, Ivette Spradlin, Sheena Rose, Erika P Rodríguez, Tony Rocco, Karyn Olivier, Conrad Louis-Charles, Matt Levitch, O’Neil Lawrence, Adrián Fernández, John E. Dowell, Jr., Vincent Dixon, and Susan S. Bank.
Don’t forget to save the date! Our opening reception will be held on Thursday, September 28, at 5pm.
