Woodmere Art Museum invited artists to submit work that contends with the importance of art in an era of heightened political uncertainty. Work in all media addressing contemporary challenges to our civil liberties, moral fabric, social compacts, political institutions, and environment were considered by juror Harry Philbrick. Philadelphia’s Quaker roots give resonance to the phrase “Speaking truth to power.” Work reflecting the conviction that the truth is beautiful, elusive, confounding, and eternally important are privileged.
The exhibition features works in a wide variety of media from artists living within 50 miles of the Museum.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an illustrated digital catalogue. Recent examples of Woodmere digital exhibition catalogues can be found by following the link below.
